The Basics
How does Jayla work?
Glad you asked! Jayla simplifies managing menopause symptoms with comprehensive services that are completely online:
- At-home hormone testing: Begin with our Jayla Kit, which includes testing materials and simple instructions (for more information on hormone testing, please refer to the “Hormone Testing” section in our FAQ page)
- Telehealth consultations: Included with your Jayla Kit purchase, you can meet virtually with a perimenopause/menopause clinician to discuss your hormone test results, symptoms, and health history
- Personalized treatment: Receive a tailored treatment plan, including prescriptions if necessary, conveniently delivered to your door
Do I need the Jayla Kit to have a consultation with a menopause clinician or get medications?
No, the Jayla Kit is optional. If you prefer to skip testing because you already know that you’re in perimenopause or menopause, you can speak directly with one of our clinicians. Simply select this option during checkout.
Who is the Jayla Kit recommended for?
The Jayla Kit is ideal for women experiencing symptoms like irregular periods, hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood swings. It’s also beneficial for women aged 35 and older looking to prioritize their health.
What states do you serve?
We currently provide telehealth services in New York, California, and Florida. The good news is that Jayla will be available in more states soon. If you’d like more information about when we’ll be in your state, please send an email to [email protected].
Are your services covered by insurance?
The Jayla Kit and Jayla telehealth consultation are currently cash pay and priced at $40 and $60, respectively. Neither requires an ongoing membership like other platforms. These prices are designed to be affordable and comparable to what you would spend on a co-pay. We also accept HSA/FSA as a form of payment.

Hormone Testing
Why should I test my hormones?
The Jayla Kit can help you understand how your symptoms correspond with your hormones during perimenopause and menopause. When considered along with your symptoms and medical information, this can help identify the appropriate treatment options.
What hormones will you measure?
It’s simple; the Jayla Kit measures your follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) levels, five times over nine days. FSH levels rise as women approach perimenopause, indicating changes in ovarian function and the onset of menopause-related symptoms such as irregular periods, hot flashes, and mood swings. Monitoring FSH levels over multiple days provides a clearer picture of hormonal fluctuations, aiding in the diagnosis and management of perimenopause symptoms.
How often will I have to test my hormones?
With the Jayla Kit, you’ll test your hormones five times over a span of nine days. We recommend this method because hormone levels can change over time. Testing at intervals ensures that the Jayla Kit captures any changes in your hormone levels accurately.
Why do I need to test every other day for nine days?
We recommend testing five times (every other day for nine days) because hormone levels can change over time. Testing at intervals ensures that the Jayla Kit captures any changes in your hormone levels accurately.
When should I take the test?
You can start testing with the Jayla Kit at any point in your cycle, but please keep the following in mind:
- For optimal results, use your first urine of the day when hormone levels are most concentrated
- Test every other day over a nine-day period, starting on a convenient day for you
- If possible, avoid testing during heavy menstrual bleeding for more accurate results
After receiving my testing kit, can I test right away?
Almost! For best results, we recommend testing with the first urine of the day. It’s probably best if you start your first test the day after you receive your Jayla Kit.
I have irregular cycles. Will the Jayla Kit Work?
First of all, don’t worry; this is a very common scenario! If you have irregular cycles and suspect you’re entering perimenopause, the Jayla Kit is designed to accommodate these changes. Our kit captures hormonal fluctuations over several days, providing a comprehensive assessment, so irregular cycles aren’t an issue.
Can I test if I have an intrauterine device (IUD)?
For hormonal IUDs, such as Mirena, Liletta, Kyleena, or Skyla, your natural hormone levels will be altered so our Jayla Kit will not provide an accurate result. If you are using a hormonal IUD, we recommend you skip hormone testing and directly speak with one of our perimenopause clinicians.
Can medications or health conditions affect the results?
Rest assured – common painkillers, antibiotics, and alcohol typically do not alter the test results. However, if you experience any unexpected results, you can discuss them during your telehealth appointment which is included in your Jayla Kit.
That being said, please note that if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, taking hormonal birth control, or medications that affect follicle-stimulating hormone levels, this will most likely lead to inaccurate results.
Will the Jayla Kit tell me if I am in perimenopause?
Our testing kit is designed to help you understand your hormonal changes. If you’re uncertain whether you’ve entered perimenopause, the Jayla Kit will allow you to assess whether ovulation is still occurring. Alongside a telehealth appointment, this kit will provide you with valuable insights to make informed decisions about managing perimenopause symptoms and changes. It’s important to note that according to the North American Menopause Society, menopause is confirmed after 12 consecutive months without a period.
What is the relationship between hormones and perimenopause?
During perimenopause, your body’s estrogen and progesterone levels – the dynamic duo regulating your menstrual cycle – start to change. These hormonal changes can cause more than three dozen physical and emotional symptoms, including irregular periods. Understanding these shifts can help you manage and treat these symptoms effectively, and that is why we created the Jayla Kit.

Telehealth Visits
When can I schedule my first telehealth consultation?
We recommend scheduling your telehealth consultation as soon as you receive your Jayla Kit. You should schedule it for at least 10 days after you start testing your hormones. This timing ensures that your testing results will be available for discussion during your telehealth consultation. We look forward to meeting you!
What should I expect during my telehealth consultation?
During your telehealth consultation, you’ll discuss your Jayla Kit results, medical history, and any symptoms you’ve been experiencing with a Jayla perimenopause/menopause clinician. Together, you’ll create a holistic treatment plan tailored to your needs. If medications are needed, they can be ordered through Jayla’s online pharmacy and delivered straight to your door.
How do I join my telehealth consultation?
Once you’ve booked your telehealth consultation, expect an email with a link to join at the scheduled time. You’ll also receive a reminder 24 hours before and another 10 minutes before the consultation, complete with easy instructions to join.
Who are Jayla clinicians and how are they trained?
At Jayla, we prioritize the highest standards of care and expertise. Our clinicians include licensed nurse practitioners (NPs), nurse midwives (CNMs), doctors (MDs), and naturopathic doctors (NDs) specializing in perimenopause and menopause care. They undergo rigorous training and are experts in their respective fields. Medical doctors oversee all treatments and work closely with clinicians to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to your needs.
Why is Jayla virtual and not in person?
Top-tier professionals specializing in perimenopause and menopause are in short supply, and Jayla addresses this by embracing telehealth over in-person visits. Because we recognized that many women transitioning through perimenopause and menopause often feel unheard and misunderstood by their doctors, our approach addresses common struggles by offering dedicated expert clinicians who are trained to engage in meaningful conversations and active listening. Virtual care also provides the convenience and comfort of home while reducing the burden of long appointment waitlists. If you still prefer in-person care, rest assured that we can also facilitate referrals to local clinicians or labs in your area for physical exams or bloodwork as needed.
